The SATCOM Office provide SATCOM SystemExpert (SSE) support and functions to USSPACECOM and utilizes fourRegional SATCOM Support Centers (RSSCs) to provide global planning andoperational support to the various WGS user communities The WGS provide near-term continuation and augmentation of the services currently provided by the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) and the Global Broadcast Service (GBS) Ka services currently provided by GBS payloads on UFO satellites. The system provides two-way X- and Ka-band communications, as well as Ka-band broadcast services to the US armed forces and other allied forces worldwide, and X-band satellite transfers of data, photos and videos to troops on the battlefield.
